Bio

Originally from Ohio, Kara attended Wittenberg University where she majored in Art History and French. She was a peer tutor in the writing workshop and served as the editor of one of the university journals. She taught English at Jiaxing University in China, and she pursued an M.A. in Intercultural Humanities in Germany where her courses included linguistics, world literature, and transnational communication. Kara earned a Ph.D. in Art History & Theory from the University of Melbourne where she continued to cultivate professional relationships in Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, and Britain. With a love for travel, she is interested in developing a readership both within and beyond the United States and she speaks conversational French and German. Currently, she resides in the Southeast US with her family. FOREIGN HAWAIIANS is her debut novel, and she is keen to develop her brand as a writer, combining sociopolitical themes with appealing settings and characters.
